I'm pretty picky when it comes to Thai food, but this place definitely exceeded my expectations. The interior is cute, which adds to the overall experience. We tried the beef drunken noodles, chicken pad Thai, and panang curry (not pictured). The drunken noodles were decent but didn't stand out too much. However, the chicken pad Thai was fantastic! The panang curry was also flavorful and rich. Service was good, and our food came out relatively quickly. Overall, I'll definitely be back to try more dishes.
A while back, we were searching for a place to have lunch at Village Center at Dulles, where there is a European-looking building. We ended up dining at this Thai restaurant, which we really enjoyed. Their whole grilled squid was delicious; it was slightly seasoned and had a perfect texture. I ordered the Raad Na Noodle and fell in love with it instantly. The gravy was perfectly balanced with the noodles and seafood, making it a great dish. This restaurant is distinguished from others not only by its delicious entrees but also by its numerous unique Thai desserts. I ordered Sweet Rice with Thai Custard, which melted in my mouth. Our dining experience at this place was thoroughly enjoyable, and I highly recommend it.
I've been visiting this area for years now and didn't know this place existed! Located in clock tower conplex next to Ned's, this place is a "hidden gem"! The ambiance is not what you would expect when you notice this place from the outside. We went here on a Friday night and the service was prompt - our server was very attentive. We tried papaya salad which was good, veg soup which was very flavorful but the standouts were the red curry with tofu and chicken pad Thai! Pad Thai is a little on the sweet side but does not lack flavors. ++++ points for Shinchan!
This restaurant is located in the same shopping center as Giant (Clock tower) on Centreville Rd. There is ample parking in the large lot out front too which is convenient. I was pretty surprised at how unique the interior looked. There are stuffed animals for decoration which shows a lot of character and personality of the owner (I'm guessing?), but I like cute things and collect plushes myself, so I liked it. The food, though? 10/10 yum. It's different from other Thai restaurants I've been to. My husband also thoroughly enjoyed every bite of his food. We ordered the Pinapple Fried Rice, Panang Curry, Tom Yum soup, and a Pad Thai to go. We were pretty surprised at how good everything tasted compared to other places, so we had a great overall experience. Now, we order takeout from here whenever we're craving Thai and want to try out pretty much their whole menu eventually!
We enjoyed our food. My mom loved her pineapple rice and her spicy garlic shrimp. I enjoyed my shrimp fried rice but I wish it had more shrimp. The service was okay, our waiter didn't seem interested in helping us really. It's pretty inside the restaurant and it's clean.
I first had chao phra ya years ago when i worked in the area. Their lunch specials were the thing! Fast forward to recently, it's my favorite Thai spot in the area! Inside is so cute and nicely decorated. When I was pregnant, their tofu pad Thai always hit the spot and still does! It's now my favorite! A few other go to dishes - duck roll and curry puffs for appetizer. The khao soi, drunken noodles, and pad Thai are all musts for entrees.
We've ordered takeout from this Thai place before but was a bit disappointed with the taste. Though it was still within our expectation since takeout usually doesn't taste as good as eating the food fresh from the restaurant. So we decided to give it another try and dine in with some adventurous friends. The restaurant was located in a plaza with plenty of parking available. There are also plenty of seats in the restaurant so no need to wait. The seats were comfortable and the decor was quite interesting as well. We ordered their pineapple fried rice (same as our takeout order) and it tasted so much better this time. The right amount of spice and flavoring. Not enough pineapple pieces but the flavor of pineapple comes through nicely. Overall pretty happy with this dish. We also tried their Koi Soi. The flavor was amazing but the chicken didn't have much flavor and didn't feel too warm either. Would be nice instead of drumsticks to get chicken thigh instead to absorb more of the flavoring. Our friend tried their mango sticky rice and loved it. Cool color and concept. Looked very appetizing. We have a great experience overall. Will definitely come back again.
Well, fast forward about 3 years since my last visit/review. The food is just as delicious as before, however, the lunch portion has drastically changed from "large portions" to barely a portion. While the prices remain the same, or probably increased. Due to this reason, I gave 4 stars. We ordered the thai spicy fried rice (again) and it did NOT disappoint. I just wish there was more to enjoy. I will definitely return as this is my favorite Thai spot in this area.
Came here for a birthday dinner one night, never had Thai food all the way out in Herndon, so was definitely looking forward to trying this spot! For food, I got the Duck Thai Red Curry, and for dessert the Sweet Rice with Mango. Thai Red Curry is one of my favorites, so I was really interested to see how it would taste with some nice duck meat: the curry itself was very tasty and had a nice assortment of vegetables, and the spices mixed in with the coconut milk made it taste like a classic Thai curry! The duck meat was a bit on the dry side and didn't have much seasoning/flavor to it, I would've rather just had a different meat like chicken instead, maybe it was a matter of just being a bit overcooked. The Dessert Sweet Rice with Mango though was pretty fantastic! Beautiful presentation with fresh mangos sprinkled with gold flake, fresh berries, and a very pretty blue sweet rice. The sweet rice made with coconut milk tasted great with the sweetness and tartness of the mango, definitely a must-get for dessert. Service was nice and accommodating, we had some party members that showed up at different times and they got us a large table to hold everyone. And the interior aesthetic definitely has a clean and modern feel to it, as well as some cozy elements with cute decor on shelves along the wall.
